Every year 1200 Australians die of brain cancer, with a new brain cancer case diagnosed every 5 hours. Sadly this disease does not discriminate and young people are overrepresented.
At 13 years old I watched as a close friend lost his father to brain cancer. It was horrible. In the space of only a few months, an otherwise fit and healthy young man, who was loved by his family and community, rapidly declined until his passing.
Fast forward 25 years and I have been diagnosed with the same disease. My treatment options are the same as my friend's father all those years ago and unfortunately survival rates haven't improved. Collectively, we can do better but researchers need our help.
Please support me as I attempt to complete the Festive 500 challenge (cycling 500km between Xmas and New Year) while undergoing daily radiation and chemotherapy, to raise awareness and funds for brain cancer research. Together we can help to move the dial on treatment options and provide hope for future brain cancer patients.
