Everyone knows that I adore bats and have been heavily involved in rescue and rehabilitation for a number of years. With mine and Jannico’s imminent move to North Queensland, I now have the space to construct a much needed flight and release aviary on our new property. The main flying fox species I’ll be rehabbing are spectacled flying foxes, which are listed as endangered under our federal and state legislation. A new flight and release aviary is desperately needed in this region to deal with the large numbers of endangered flying foxes coming in to care. I have successfully won a grant through DES which will pay for approximately 30% of the aviary but there is still an outstanding cost of nearly $10,000. If your in a position to do so, I would very much appreciate any donations towards this aviary. It’s a great way to directly help a critically important endangered species whose population is continuing to decline.
Thank you for all you have done and will do for our precious bats.
