Our local primary school has an ongoing goal to support all students with their literacy - starting with foundation students which currently includes our youngest, Louie. The school has been passionately transitioning into the research-based Science of Reading approach which requires decodable texts to develop independent reading for our emergent readers. With so many competing demands for school funds, our family decided to independently raise funds to support the school's literacy journey by running the Surf Coast Trail Marathon - a 42km off-road event from Torquay to Fairhaven. We would greatly appreciate your support, through donations, to help fund the purchase of literacy resources for the school. The plan is for me to do the running and my literacy-expert wife to do the purchasing (you are in safe hands with that division of labour I promise!) We are seeking community support to purchase enough resources to ensure we can help all our Foundation students, this year and for all the future generations to journey through the school beyond. Our boys have been privileged to come through the school and have benefited hugely from this approach to reading and we want to extend this to every student in the way that we felt we could do most effectively.
