Did you see the story on TV of DJ the dog and Mark O'Toole in the February 2023 Northern Rivers flood?
This story has been converted to a beautiful children's picture book by Mark's neighbour Candy Lawrence, as a way to help small children talk about their flood experiences and move forwards.
It's been approved by a clinical psychologist, Vicki Moir, who also helped write the Parent/Teacher Handbook.
The handbook guides parents and teachers in how to use the book to help children overcome their traumatic memories and get their lives back on track with courage.
We need money to print this book so we can start distributing it to the children who need it. We would like to be able to donate copies to those who have no resources and who most certainly can't access professional help for their traumatised children.
We'd also like to be able to sell it to those who *can* afford it, raising money for further flood relief for people who slip through the cracks of government grants.
The more money we have, the cheaper the printing is per copy. If we print 1000 copies, for example, it will cost us $5,546.20; but if we print 2,000, it will cost $8,242.30.
So please take our $5,000 goal as just a guide! The more we have, the more good we can do. Thank you!!
