I am proud to announce the fourth edition of the Run For Mental Health Challenge! Starting on July 12, 2023, I will be embarking on a truly awe-inspiring feat - running twice the height of Mount Everest, which totals a staggering 17,698 meters! To put this into perspective, it's equivalent to climbing Mount Wellington/Kunanyi a whopping 14 times.
My journey to reach this extraordinary height will involve running up and down the breathtaking slopes of Kunanyi/Mount Wellington, starting from The Fern Tree Tavern and covering a distance of 66 kilometers per day.
But this challenge is not just about pushing my physical limits - it's also about raising awareness and funds for a cause close to my heart. This will be our fifth fundraiser for SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY, and all the funds raised will go towards supporting their vital programs and initiatives focused on promoting mental health and suicide prevention.
What makes this run even more special is that it will culminate on the 10th anniversary of SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY, adding an extra layer of significance to this incredible undertaking.
Over the years, I have completed various running challenges, from running from Burnie to Hobart, a 48-hour treadmill run, to a seven-day run around an oval. But this elevation challenge holds a special meaning for me. It symbolises the daunting struggles that individuals facing poor mental health often endure, where even the simplest tasks can feel like climbing the tallest mountain.
Each climb during this challenge will be a tribute to those we have lost to suicide, and a source of inspiration for those who are currently struggling. It's my way of spreading awareness, normalising conversations around mental health, and fostering a supportive community.
If you would like to be a part of this incredible journey or support the run in any way, please don't hesitate to send me a message. I urge you to share this far and wide, Together, we can make a positive impact and support mental health and suicide prevention.
Awesome effort mate, you’re a true inspiration ⛰️?♂️?
