This group advocates for the advancement of our beautiful city through strategic planning and sensitive development which celebrate our natural coastal jewels - the beach and creek.
Our community groups are challenging Frankston City Council at VCAT for their approval of a 14 storey high-rise development. The proposed site is in the waterfront precinct running alongside the Kananook Creek and within 200m of the coastline.
A building of this magnitude is likely to set a precedent for more, and this will not only change the valued beachside character but will create a barrier between Frankston’s prized waterfront assets and its city centre. Already there is a further application for 16 storeys on the adjoining site which is now also awaiting a decision at VCAT.
We are greatly concerned about the amenity and environmental impacts this will have, including overshadowing of the waterway affecting aquatic biodiversity and street vegetation, wind downdrafts, heat island effects and the marring of views from our iconic Olivers Hill and from across the bay.
Please help us protect what we love and cherish about our unique coastal city and the legacy we leave for future generations. There is a way for us to develop our city, without compromising what we treasure and what makes us a place where people want to live, work and visit.
We need your help. Please donate, no matter how small. Together our coastal communities will have a voice. This will have implications right around Port Phillip Bay.

Climate change, sea level rise/flooding, high value of Kananook Creek - especially seagrass, should see this inappropriate high rise development expunged. Return the whole area to an urban park - Government buy-back - be a world class tourist attraction.
