Adelina is an 8 year old girl from Sheparton Vic. She's the 2nd daughter of our dear friends Kimberley & Matt.
At 3 months old Ade was diagnosed with Familiar left ventricular non compaction dilated cardiomyopathy (a type of childhood heart disease [CHD]) while in heart failure.
Ade was fortunate to receive a heart transplant just before her 2nd birthday. While there were ups and downs since her transplant, the biggest hurdle came in January 2022 when Ade was diagnosed with PTLD (post transplant lymphoproliferative disorder) mimicking Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a complication of Epstein Barr virus in post-transplant recipients.
Ade has endured hospital stays which accumulated to approximately 5 months throughout 2022 while she received treatment and for reoccurring infections.
While she is now post treatment, she has severe neutropenia. This has meant numerous hospital admissions with infections, some within a week of being discharged.
This has taken a huge toll on the family, not only emotionally but also financially. Over the last year Kim has spent the majority of Ade's hospitalisations with her at RCH(Melbourne) or GV (Shepparton) hospitals, with Matt and Kim's parents keeping the household going with their other 3 children back home. This has meant lots of trips back and forth between Shepparton and Melbourne, parking costs, increased food costs. Matt has also used up a large amount of his leave. This has resulted in the family using the majority of their savings and having a reduced income.
After the family has endured all of this, they've now been advised their rent is going to increase, when they were already struggling financially.
As Ade's journey continues, I ask if you can help out with any donations to help the family out financially during this time, it would be gratefully appreciated.
Praying for you x
