We need funds to make it possible to book buses from Melbourne to Canberra so refugees and people seeking asylum can travel to Canberra to protest peacefully outside Parliament House on 6 March.
Nearly 12,000 refugees on Bridging Visas still have no certainty about their future, after 10 years of waiting. The campaign to secure permanent visas for ALL refugees must continue. The recent announcement by the government that 19,000 refugees will get permanent visas is welcome, but a further 12,000 people are left behind – they are still in limbo.
Refugees on Bridging Visas receive little or no income support, some have no work rights. They are prevented from accessing training or further education, and all remain separated from their families.
Each day of continuing insecurity causes more harm and trauma to people who live with constant fear for the safety of their families. Granting permanent visas to ALL refugees is urgent!
Please be generous in supporting refugees and people who are seeking asylum to have their voices heard in Canberra.
The Refugee Advocacy Network is a broad coalition of Victorian organisations who have come together to advance a more just, humane approach to refugees and asylum seekers in Australia.
