In September 2021 Alex suffered a stroke, the kind of stroke that only occurs 1% of the time.
After being rushed to Canberra for emergency surgery Alex woke up to find out that the only thing he could control in his body was his eyes. He was “locked in” to his own body. Locked in syndrome usually comes with 1% chance of regaining any more bodily control. But Alex is determined to get back to his young family. He became the 1%.
Alex has started to claw back small movements to prove to his medical team he can be rehabilitated. He is still in the hospital and has recently made it to the rehab unit after overcoming a bevy of medical conditions that came with the stroke.
As Alex has done so much for the Football community please support Alex and his family to help with ongoing medical-related costs including a wheelchair accessible house and car so that he can go home to his family.
You are in our thoughts Alex and family. Thank you for the care you have provided us.
