Help Ukrainian family have a home

On the first picture there is a happy family: my mother, my brother (who has intellectual disabilities from birth), my dog and myself who is taking that picture.

We used to live peaceful in Kyiv, where our government had provide living facilities for my brother. A big and nice house, where he and his friends could get the help they needed.

My mom and I used to have work, earning money to support each other and get us through the day. And no one would have ever thought that our lives could change as much has it had in the last 44 days.

War had forced us to leave our home. Now the house, where my brother had all of the necessary facilities, is shutdown. That’s why my mom and I had to leave our city, because living with my brother in these conditions are impossible. When he’s stressed he can not stay inside and will leave to try to go for a walk (once, we’ve found him 140 km away from Kyiv).

Now we had moved to a small town in Kyiv region where my mother grew up. There is a house for us to stay in, but is not prepared to be lived in yet.

She built that house 10 years ago but then she was diagnosed with cancer and lost the opportunity to earn enough to live in the building.

All we have are four walls, a roof, old furniture in the basement, and electricity. We’ve just put an old sofa and a table to make our everyday life possible.

We moved there because it’s save for my brother. In this town we have lots of relatives and he can visit them during his walks without endangering himself and others. Here he feels secure and may stay relatively calm.

What I’m asking for is some money to fix the house and make it suitable for living. We’ve already spend all of our savings on materials but it’s still not enough and we still need to buy food and clothes as we’ve left with as little as possible.

The roof is leaking, no one has any privacy at all, we have no bathroom (the toilet is outside which is not usable for my brother). We still need a shower built, as we currently have go to the neighbour’s to wash. And we need a better and more sanitary kitchen seeing that all we have to prep on is an old table and the utensils that we had left there.

We asking for some money to pay for the work of craftsmen and buy additional materials. I need your help for us to stop surviving and to start living in adequate conditions.
