The Rounders and Touch competition is an event that Elijah Douglas had been running for the last 7 years in the community of Doomadgee, it started in 2015 after I was out collecting mangoes from my grandfathers house. whilst I was collecting mangoes in the tree I heard kids playing in the street and I looked out to see where they were playing, I sat and watched for a bit then went home and started to organize the event because i missed playing the games of rounders and touch. The competition became a big hit and over the last few years it has grown and people young and old enjoy coming to play the game or to watch and support. In previous years i have had to use my own pocket money to run the event and sometimes get support from services providers, and it is a struggle every time I run the event. This money would help heaps with running the event for the next 5 months which will encourage the community to play sports and keep active. year in year out we see negative things getting out on the media and rarely the good, this year i want to shine a light this competition as I am very passionate about it and there is no other event I wouldn't run in this community. please help to support myself and my community and my passion it would be deeply appreciated.
