Weaving Widows: Food & Jobs for Women in Afghanistan

The humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan has left millions in poverty, in particular affecting women. Their situation is worsened by lack of employment and inability to work. Widows and women-led households need urgent support.

Organization for Development Solutions (ODS) is working in partnership with Canva to provide relief in Afghanistan. We will distribute emergency food packages to widows and women-led households and invest in securing them employment in carpet weaving. Employment as a relief response means sustainable and meaningful support and avoiding aid-dependency. It will empower women to gain skills and provide for their families’ needs through this crisis and beyond.

The woven carpets will be sold and the funds will be used to support more women in need. Donate and provide durable relief support to women in need.
