Vincent Doyle ~ Living with MND in Mount Isa

Vincent was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) on the 21st of June 2020 at the age of 37. We are hoping that enough money can be raised to purchase a wheelchair accessible van to assist Vincent make treasured memories with his family.

Vincent's bucket list:
- Go to Lake Moondarra to watch the sunset
- Travel to visit family and friends
- Have a family reunion in Mount Isa with a BBQ
- Have professional family photos taken
- Be able to travel outside of Mount Isa to visit family & friends
- Spend quality time with his children; taking them out bush –
fishing, site seeing, watching them play sports, going out into the community

Prior to his diagnosis in early 2020, Vincent began to notice breathlessness, slight loss of strength/use in his hands and was unable to lay flat in bed. Due to this he was only able to sleep upright in a chair which went on for 3-4 months. He also began to lose weight and even walking became a struggle. It was a very worrying time and after attending many doctor's appointments, pulmonary function tests, MRI’s, scans in Cairns and Mareeba he was diagnosed with MND.

MND is the name for a group of diseases that affects particular nerves known as motor nerves, or motor neurons. In MND, those neurons generate and die and slowly the muscles become weaker until paralysis. There is currently no known cure.

Throughout this time, Vincent has experienced a decline in lung function and now relies on oxygen being supplied to his body.

His mobility has also been severely affected and he now depends on a motorised wheelchair and spends much of his day in a recliner.

A wheelchair accessible van would make an enormous difference in Vincent's life and would enable him to create lasting memories for himself and his family. We are fundraising to help make this happen. All money raised will go directly to Vincent and assist him realise his bucket list. Any services that could be donated would be greatly appreciated also.

He is a proud father, wonderful husband, loved son and brother and a respected member of the extended Doyle family from Boulia and Mount Isa. He would be eternally grateful if you could help him achieve his goals and spend quality time with his family.
