Donna's Chop for Charity

Hi, my name is Donna and I am cutting off 60cm of my hair to help raise funds for the StandbyU Foundation.

A little bit about them: every day the foundation brings friends and family closer together by supporting people at risk to reach out for help and giving them Smart Watches to keep them connected and safe in moments of need. This solution called the StandbyU Shield, has already connected thousands of people, changing the lives of hundreds of families across Australia.

Chris Boyle set up StandbyU Foundation in 2018 after working as a social worker in the child protection and family support sector for over 25 years. His experience within the sector inspired him to find a better, more connected way to support people in need.

Without any funding support from Government, the Foundation needs our help to reach the growing backlog of vulnerable children and women who are isolated, trapped and need a StandbyU Shield.

A little bit about me; As a very young and naive 15 year old, I was in a relationship that was abusive both physically and verbally. I had no relationship experience. I didn't have a comparison. I thought that this was love, that this was how a relationship worked. I was too embarrassed to reach out for help, scared of what would happen to me if I left.
Six years later, at the age of 21, I finally gathered enough courage to say I'd had enough. With the StandbyU Shield, anyone in a situation like mine will not have to wait years and can get help NOW, when they need it most.

My goal of $20,000 will enable the StandbyU Foundation to provide 20 Smart Watches with the StandbyU Shield to people in need.

I have not cut my hair for over 10 years. I will be having my hair cut, live, at Westfield Helensvale on Saturday November 27th, time TBC. I will be donating my hair to the Alopecia Foundation to help make wigs for kids. All funds raised from my campaign will go to the StandbyU Foundation.
