ChIPS is a vibrant peer support program for young people aged 12–25 living with a chronic illness The program helps connect young people with other like-minded individuals, allowing them to share in their lived-experiences and create strong, new friendships! Based at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Department of Adolescent Medicine, ChIPS offers lots of opportunities to connect and have fun through youth participation! ChIPS puts it’s largest emphasis on inclusivity, catering to a wide range of ages and abilities. Those from Melbourne, as well as regional and rural Victoria are all able to get involved! The program has been running for over twenty-five years and is currently 100% funded through donations via The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Your Kind donations will go towards helping many Chippers in a very direct way!
Twice a year, the ChIPS program run 3-day camps! Chippers and the ChIPS staff alike, all agree that ChIPS camps are the highlight of the calendar year! They give young chippers the opportunity to partake in inclusive, fun events that many have been unable to do in the past due to their conditions. Not only this, camps are a safe environment for chippers to meet new people and create strong, long-lasting friendships!
Your donation will directly help ‘sponsor a chipper’, paying for the costs related to getting them on camp!
Furthermore, with the COVID-19 pandemic and the program migrating to an online format, your donations will also aid in allowing us to continue hosting online social events, which help keep the community connected, as well as future in-person events once regulations permit it. In the past we’ve hosted events such as trivia nights, murder mysteries, online scavenger hunts, online escape rooms and much more! Your donations will help support the chips program in continuing to run these events at a higher level!
