Uncle Andy on a mission

I’m on a mission to run 5 kms per day for 65 days consecutive days (that's a total of 325 kms !!) and a further 675 kms of walking (total of 1000kms!!).

I’m running for my little Sis & her son/my nephew Saxon, who has Cystic Fibrosis - to raise much needed funds for Cystic Fibrosis Queensland who support local families like theirs and the Cure 4 CF Foundation, for research into better therapies and ultimately a cure.

What is Cystic Fibrosis (CF)? It’s a genetic disease that mainly affects the lungs & digestion system. Every four days a baby is born with CF & sadly most will not live beyond 40 years of age. It’s a very life limiting, life shortening disease and 1 in 25 people in Australia are unknowingly carrying the CF gene.

Unfortunately, the CF gene was not known about in our family until my nephew was born.

He inspires everyone with his courage and has endured a lot in his 16 years, having been in and out of hospital frequently for treatment. Saxon you are a champ and my inspiration for putting my old footy knees and ankles through this!

Why 65 days ? The number 65 is very significant in the CF community as little people cannot pronounce their disease Cystic Fibrosis, so they call it 65 roses.
