In March 2021, our amazing friend and relative Joe travelled from flood stricken Port Macquarie to Sydney and into hospital to have heart surgery. The surgery was a big and complex one to work on a problem he’s had since birth. It was expected to have a three month recovery. None of us foresaw the complications he experienced, which have resulted in a massive stroke. The impacts have left us devastated and reeling. The full extent of the long term effects of the stroke are not yet clear. What we do know is our Joe is now battling and is on a very, very long road to recovery. Joe’s passion for his soccer club, pharmacy and good times with his mates is only outpaced by his love for his amazing and strong wife, Sophie and their three gorgeous kids (Hannah - 4, Adam - 2 and Gracie - 8 months). This crew and the extended Rourke and Staniforth families are in his corner... But. We need your help to support the Rourke family and Joe’s recovery. The funds raised will help the Rourkes meet their practical needs: living in Sydney - away from their home in Port Macquarie for at least 8 weeks, caring for the kids, short and long term rehabilitation for Joe and adjusting to their new life circumstances. We appreciate anything you can donate as a gesture of your care, love and affection for Joe, Soph and their kids.
Hi Joe. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Tim and Bec Olsen (Friend of Dad and Mum)
