This year Jones Motorsport is raising money for Surgical Research at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. We have pledged to donate $10,000 per event raced within the Motorsport Australia Targa Championship. The team will be competing at the following events:
-Targa Tasmania (19-24 April 2021)
-Targa High Country (12-14 November 2021)
-30th Anniversary Targa Tasmania (8-14 March 2022)
Our driver, Dr Matthew Jones, is a trainee surgeon working in the Department of Paediatric Surgery at RCH. Under the supervision of A/Prof Warwick Teague, Matt is researching a condition called ‘Duodenal Atresia’. In duodenal atresia children are born with a missing part in their intestine, requiring surgery in their first days of life to connect this. The cause of duodenal atresia is not known.
We are raising money with the aim of funding a grant that works towards finding the cause, and one day a cure through laboratory and clinical research into this disease. In the event that our grant is not approved, all funds raised will go towards surgical research.
We are hoping to raise more money with the support of the community, including individual and corporate sponsors. Any contribution made via this page will be greatly appreciated. However, if you would like to make a larger donation and have your contribution recognised with a sticker on the car, please contact Matt directly and he can arrange this (matt.jones@rch.org.au).
May all roads safely lead to your fundraising destination Matt.
