The Jack Murphy Memorial Society was created in memory of an outstanding young Australian Sportsperson and a proud Irish immigrant to the Hunter and Newcastle Region.
Jack Murphy lost his life at just 14 years of age to Sudden Cardiac Death. His memorial society exists to bring the Irish Community together in Jack’s adopted home, to celebrate Jack’s Irish identity and to raise awareness of, and research funds to combat, Sudden Cardiac Death. We achieve these goals through a combination 1) Irish Cultural Events – celebrating an identity and connecting a community of which Jack was extremely proud 2) Scooter events for young sports people; a sport in which Jack excelled; 3) Educational events in the school communities of which Jack was a celebrated member and finally, through a formal dinner dance fund raiser for the Irish community and friends with Irish medical expert speakers on Sudden Cardiac Death.
The Jack Murphy Memorial Society Connects, Educates and Celebrates.
