As most of you know zero2hero is a charity that is very close to my heart and one that i have been involved with since 2014. My mum, Dianne Billings, battled with mental illness for a long time and as a young adult I was there finding my feet and how best to support her through this. Ultimately her battle was one that she could not win and she took her own life in July 2014. The work that zero2hero do to educate and empower young people to effectively deal with mental health issues, and mental illness is dealt with openly and treated as a normal part of everyday life is so incredibly important and I wish I had been equipped with these skills a lot earlier. 2021 is a year for challenging myself and what better way to do that than to go completely out of my comfort zone and trek 135km over 5 days from Cape Leeuwin to Cape Naturaliste. An incredible opportunity to not only challenge myself both physically and mentally but to also fundraise for this very important charity that I will absolutely not take for granted. Every little bit helps, and I need to raise $2000 to ensure I can participate in the trek. Thank you for reading and I will keep you all updated on my training and the Trek.
