TMR has been granted approval to begin building the Boat Ramp Facility between the Boat Club Marina and Golf Course. Preliminary works like vegetation removal are expected to begin In the near future. BRAG is not against boat ramps but we are against this large facility being built in an already congested site when others are available. YK BRAG has Jireceived preliminary legal advice that there are grounds for taking the matter to court. Further investigations are being carried out and we are hopeful that we will be in a position soon to file a claim in the courts asking that the approval be set aside. We want to protect the natural environment, visual and peaceful amenity from destruction by TMR's 6 lane boat ramp in a coastal ecosystem zoned 'High Ecological Significance' by Qld Gov.
25m high golf ball protection nets will snare Spectacle Flying Foxes (listing: Endangered) from the nearby roost and the resident pair of Beach Stone-Curlews (listing: Vulnerable) will be displaced. Of great concern also is for migratory shorebirds, such as the' critically endangered' Eastern Curlew, which use this feeding ground in their migrations to and from Northern Asia
Time is crucial.
Help the local community protect vulnerable coastal systems for our future, by contributing to our fighting fund.

This project means yet more destruction of our priceless mangrove/foreshore eco-systems - there are better alternatives. More concrete and pollution will significantly damage the astounding, prolific bird life found in this area.
Yet another nail in the coffin by deaf, short sighted bureaucrats if this proposal is implemented.
