Donate to my number 1 charity Got Your Back Sista!
Well I have accepted the challenge to run in my first 10km fun run (Lake Mac Fun Run).
To say the least I'm a little nervous as my training hasn’t gone to plan with my back and knees taking its time to adjust to the pounding of the pavement. However putting this aside my main aim is to fundraise for Got Your Back Sista, a charity that I see every day the amazing work that is does helping women and children to begin again after escaping domestic violence.
Training for this run has given me the opportunity to reflect on life challenges and when I think I cannot run any further, I then think how hard it must be for women affected by DV. Deciding when and how is a good time to leave a violent relationship especially when their violent partner controls so much of their life and state of mind. They then have to consider how are they going to survive on their own supporting their children and how will they ever move past living in fear.
So my run on the 25th August is to ensure the work Got Your Back Sista does in our community continues, so please join me by sponsoring me in this run – I know the discomfort that I will feel on this day will be nothing compared to 1 in 4 Australian women who live with domestic violence every day.
