Aleece and Carlos' newborn Lulu is facing major heart surgery this year. In her short 10 weeks of life so far, she has already endured 3 operations. With their elder children at home in Cairns and work commitments, Aleece and Carlos are under enormous stress and face up to 4 months separated from each other.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. We have started this donation page to relieve some of the worry and stress that our close friends, Aleece, Carlos and their children are currently facing. As many of you know, on the 15th December 2018, Aleece and Carlos’ beautiful twin baby girls, Lulu and Frankie, were born. Lulu was born with Down syndrome, a genetic disorder and Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) and now is “facing challenges, treatment and possibly multiple surgeries for her entire life” (Heartkids, 2018).
However, Lulu is a fighter and is currently recovering from her third surgery, which will help her gain weight so she can be strong enough for her major heart surgery later on in the year. These surgeries require the family to be in Brisbane where Lulu has quick access to the best care available. Relocating temporarily is not an option as Aleece and Carlos have three other children who need to attend school and Carlos, who is now the family’s only income earner, needs to return to work. This is where we can make a difference to their lives…
Aleece is in Brisbane with the twins for another four months and Carlos is back in Cairns looking after the older children and working to accrue enough leave to take time off when Lulu has her major surgery. That means Aleece and Carlos are facing the possibility of up to four months away from each other and the kids are facing a long period before they will see the other parent. Any donations from friends, colleagues, and the community could make a significant difference in ensuring the family can travel to Brisbane regularly to support Lulu during this extended period of treatment. Please consider supporting them with a donation to bring this close-knit family of 7 together on a regular basis to support with the family wellbeing and Lulu’s successful treatment.
Praying for peace, strength and healing for little Lulu x
