Hi everyone on Kangaroo Island, my name is Kellie and I moved to Kangaroo Island 1 year ago and love everything about the island: the people, the environment and the animals.
Tragically, on 6th December a large bushfire started in the native vegetation and plantation near MOUNT TAYLOR ROAD, GOSSE,MOUNT STOCKDALE ROAD and SOUTH COAST ROAD.
About 40 heroic local firefighters quickly responded and were supported by 10 additional fire trucks and 55 firefighters from the mainland, who travelled to KI late Thursday afternoon.
A number of aircraft were also dispatched to fight this fire. There were four water-bombing aircraft and two observation aircraft dedicated to this fire, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Along with the firefighters and water bombing pilots, the local police, SES, DEWNR employees and locals helped evacuate locals & tourists from the danger areas.
Even though I was not evacuated this time, I have been evacuated before and I have felt the dread, stress and fearful feelings.
I would love to be able to set up this fundraiser to help all the heroes that risk their lives to help others, no matter what and voluntarily. You are all so truly inspirational, so caring and giving to helping others in their time of need and rescue people from fire which is so unpredictable and can destroy or take human/animal lives at anytime.

If you would love to donate to all the people that are helping to save our pristine Kangaroo Island, please also message me and let me know if you are happy for the money to be divided between the following individuals/organisations.
Also, if you know of other organisations/individuals please let me know via private message also, as I myself do not know everyone that helped.
I, myself have met the heroes from Aerotech Australia and they are amazing individuals (both men and women) whose passion is to help people in times of need and were so happy & grateful when I gave them free coffee, even though I said that is the least I could do for what they have done for our beautiful Island. They are one lot of heroes that have helped Kangaroo Island & their residents in their worst time of need.
I will donate to this fund and I am more than happy to send you receipts of the donations to the various organisations/individuals. Please when you donate, put the reference as GOSSEKI.
Also please feel free to message me with any extra support or any information you would like to be added to this post on your behalf with your name.
