Yes, I'm running another full marathon again, despite vowing I would never do it again after the last horrifying experience 2 years ago. It's all Socheata's fault - he pointed out that a marathon is exactly 1 kilometre for each of my 42 years (a fact he enjoyed pointing out) and somehow that convinced me to run on behalf of This Life Cambodia.
So that this is a genuine challenge and tough on me, I pledge to run it in less than 4 hours (that's a good time, you can google it, especially in Cambodian heat), which I missed last time. And if I fail, I promise you all I will run another marathon and try again. If I break my promise I will pay you the money back out of my own pocket.
Since I'm doing it, I might as well try and turn the pain into something good. As most of you know I run several races a year, but only come round to annoy you and fundraise for one of them.
This year I will be running on behalf of TLC, a really exceptional NGO I have got to know over the last year. They do amazing work helping Cambodians improve their own lives, particularly helping impoverished communities to find their own solutions to challenges facing children and families. This isn't about knowing better than Cambodians or giving them handouts, its a belief that Cambodians know what their country needs more than any foreigner. They have won many important awards for their work and they really deserve your support.
Please support me and This Life Cambodia. It really is a good way to spend your money. Instant karma's going to get you, gonna knock you right on the head.
WELL DONE JAIME. XXX
