Dr Geoff Warren, who has been practising as a veterinarian in Jamestown for over 35 years, was recently attacked and mauled by a large dog in his veterinary practice. He was flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for emergency surgery to his wounds. He is extremely lucky that he survived the traumatic ordeal. Geoff sustained serious injuries to his forearm, leg and face, including the loss ofan ear, which resulted in the need for 4 skin graft and reconstructive operations, a 24-day hospital stay and continuing treatment.
Many Mid North residents can attest to Geoff being an extremely dedicated, compassionate and professional veterinarian in the district. Many clients would have an amazing story to share about his tremendous generosity and undying commitment to their pets and livestock. Years of midnight emergencies and 24 hour working days, has usually resulted in happy and healthy animals, due to the quality of his service and willingness to go that extra mile. No one could ever dispute his very reasonable fees reflecting his philosophy for supporting the health and well being of pets and livestock.
Geoff’s outstanding reputation stretches not just in Jamestown but across the Mid North and into the pastoral districts. He has also been very generous in his commitment to local organisations such as the Peterborough Rodeo, Jamestown Racing Club and Jamestown Show.
Locals believe this cause is an opportunity for the community to show appreciation for Geoff and the Jamestown Veterinary Practise's compassion and care.
Geoff wants the Mid North community to know that he still cares about the community’s pets and livestock and hopes to return to work in his veterinary practise before long.
Geoff and his family appreciate the Mid North community’s compassionate responses during this time and will be putting donations towards paying medical bills and to relieve some pressure from the forced time off work to allow a full recovery.
Thanks Geoff and best wishes - hoping your recovery is going well. Porter Family
