On Sunday 27 August this year, my ‘baby brother’ Andrew Barre passed away suddenly in his sleep. The shock of losing him so suddenly has caused an incredible amount of grief and anguish for his family and friends, especially when he was only 50 years of age and in apparent good health.
Andy was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandpa, a born practical joker, and accomplished photographer. He loved cruising the highways with his biker mates and enjoying a coffee whenever and wherever he could.
Andy leaves behind him a legacy of having made a real difference in people’s lives wherever he worked, and with whomsoever he came across. He has made lifelong mates from his years at Craigmore High School, his studies at TAFESA, and his employment in places such as Interwork, Workskill, and Baptist Care, just to name a few.
There are young people alive and successful today because of Andy's intervention as a youth worker.
His professionalism behind the camera, his willingness to encourage and teach others, and his membership with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) has earned him the lifelong respect of many friends. And his love of bikes and the open road has earned him a genuine place in the hearts of the Cruiser Club SA.
Sadly, his sudden and untimely death meant that many plans were left unfulfilled, and his family are now left to pick up the pieces of their lives, without his loving support and financial provision.
To honour Andy’s legacy we have started this page for those who were touched by his love, compassion, and empathy. He judged no man, women or child as being unworthy of his time and assistance, and we hope that in some small way, this campaign might be a way for those who loved him to say ‘thank you’ in a real and tangible way.
Andy’s wife and family would never ask others to help in this way, so we are doing it for them. All funds raised will go directly to Andy’s family.
We love and miss you, Andrew!
