As you would know Mick has recently returned from a life changing trip to Africa. He was very moved by the amount of poverty and plight of the children there, so in honour of his 30th birthday and his desire to do something to help, I thought it would be a wonderful gift to start a Medical Scholarship in Micks name to give one of those kids a chance at an amazing future.
This is Emmy - he is from Uganda. After having lost his mum to cancer and his dad to HIV he was left under the care of his aunt where he was subjected to a lot of violence, forced to work and leave school.
At the age of 12 he became part of the OrphFund family and has since blossomed into one of the leaders among the children. He is a top performer and was recently admitted into one of the best high schools of the region.
He has his sights set on becoming a Dr and arranged to visit a University where he asked some of the older students to mentor him in the hopes it will steer him in the right direction for University applications.
This medical scholarship will cover the fees for his entire first year and give him the chance to pursue his dream of becoming a Doctor and giving back to his community.
Happy birthday Mick, such a great cause x
