Hi everyone!
One of the best things about having an eclectic group of facebook friends is seeing how compassionate so many people in my life are towards the current refugee crisis. Despite recent tragedies, I see so much hope, especially in my generation who want change and who want to help.
But whether its issues like the thousands in Australian detention centres or millions displaced from the Syrian war, I know how overwhelming it is to want to help without knowing how.
The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre is a great way to do that. It's a Melbourne based organisation that I've volunteered with before and does wonderful things to change the lives of so many people seeking asylum right here in Australia, assisting in things like legal services, food and aid, healthcare, employment and skills training. It's a wonderful organisation that relies on public funding for the majority of its operations but is under pressure at the moment due to increased demands on services.
Many people have asked me how to help so I thought this would be a great way to do that. So the spirit of Christmas, I'm asking all the remarkable people in my life to spread some goodwill this December and donate anything they can. No amount is too small and every little bit helps.
We are so blessed for all the opportunities living in Australia gives us, lets pay it forward!

Each and every one of us deserves to be treated with dignity, to feel safe and live free from danger. That is why for the last 14 years, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) has fought to uphold the human rights of people seeking asylum.
This past year, the ASRC has witnessed a 500% increase in demand for our services, for basics like food, blankets, nappies, legal assistance and shelter. However there are still 30,000 people living in the community who are seeking protection from harm, that have a right to thrive and prosper.
Now more than ever, we need you – our community, to drive positive change for people seeking asylum. Every dollar donated to the ASRC provides life changing assistance that enables thousands of people each year to find refuge, to feel safe, valued, and to access opportunities to be independent.
