As many of you will know I was in Nepal on 25th April this year when the earthquake hit. At the time I had made it to Everest Base Camp and was trekking back down to the local airport at Lukla. I got caught in the middle of the earthquake with buildings falling down, landslides and numerous aftershocks. It was a pretty harrowing experience, which was made more difficult as I was travelling on my own. However, I was lucky enough to be supported by an amazing tour company and guide, who worked tirelessly and selflessly to get myself and the other two trekkers in my group safely off the mountain range and back to Kathmandu and our homes.
Unfortunately both my tour guide and tour operator's villages were severely damaged during the earthquake and they (amongst the vast majority of people in their villages) lost their homes. My tour operator has since set up a local group of people comprising his colleagues, friends and family, who have been working to rebuild accommodation and local schools in their villages and surrounds. I've uploaded some photos which will give you an idea of the damage done in the villages as well as some showing the rebuilding efforts, particularly of a local village school.
I decided to run the City 2 Surf marathon on 30th August 2015 to raise money to support this cause which is very close to my heart, and help the ongoing rebuilding work in the local villages where my tour operator/guide live.
I've been training for the marathon since I returned from Nepal in May and have had several injuries, which has certainly made the training a mentally and physically challenging experience. I'm still suffering with two injuries, so whilst I don't think I'll be running close to any time I hoped, by the power of physio massage, acupuncture and taping I will get to the finish line :)
So if you can give any amount to support the local village rebuilding and help me say thank you to all the wonderful people that helped me during the earthquake to get home, that would be amazing. Thanks everyone, and see some of you at the finish line!
I was in Nepal doing the Everest Base Camp trek when the earthquake hit and my tour operator and guide's villages were badly damaged. He and his colleagues have come together to help with several rebuilding projects in local villages supported by http://namunanepal.org/ and need funds to continue.

Tam you're amazing. You went through such a traumatic experience - and came home and trained like a professional, despite aches and pains and being taped up with physio tape. This is such an amazing thing you are doing. Proud to contribute. Well done, you are a shining star. xxxx
