The Marine Vertabrate Ecology Research Group at University of Queensland researches dugongs.
Contributions will help with:
- Health checks for live wild dugongs
- Monitoring dugong population numbers along the developed Queensland coast
- Fieldwork to tag dugongs along the coast to examine movements, relatedness and population connectivity
- Laboratory analysis of dugong blood samples to check for heavy metals and organochlorine pollutants, infection, diseases and stress indicators
- Identification and monitoring of environmental threats to dugongs
