Donate to Butterfly Foundation

I’m stepping into the ring to raise money for the Butterfly Foundation; a National charity supporting people affected by eating disorders and body image concerns. In Australia, more than 1.1 million people are living with an eating disorder, while countless others struggle with body dissatisfaction. Yet less than a third of those living with an eating disorder receive treatment or support. This is something that hits close to home for me. I’ve never had an eating disorder, but I do struggle with my body image and my relationship with food on a daily basis. I know what it’s like to have days where you don’t feel comfortable in your own skin, or where thoughts about food and your body become louder than you’d like them to be. I don’t think you need to have an eating disorder to understand how complicated that relationship can become, particularly in a sporting environment. As a professional rugby player, I’ve spent years learning to appreciate my body for what it allows me to do, rather than simply how it looks. Rugby has taught me to value its strength, resilience and ability to perform, and to feel proud of the physicality and power that comes with playing a sport like rugby. But that doesn’t mean the struggle with body image disappears. There’s a constant balancing act between feeling comfortable in my skin, accepting how my body changes, and learning to see food as fuel rather than something to feel guilty about. I’m still learning that my body doesn’t need to look a certain way to be worthy of the sport I love or the life I want to live. I’ve also seen people close to me, including friends and family, affected by eating disorders. I know how important the right support can be, and how many people still struggle to access it. That’s why this fight means more to me than simply getting in the ring. I want to use it as an opportunity to raise awareness, start conversations and, most importantly, raise money for an organisation doing incredibly important work. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help The Butterfly Foundation continue supporting people and families affected by eating disorders and body image concerns. So, I’m asking you to get behind me if you can, get behind this incredible cause, and help me make every punch count. 🥊🦋 Thank you so much for your support.
