Holy Fools Inc is NGO that has been serving the Yarra Ranges for over 10 Years with an ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) focus in our work to end homelessness and poverty.
Over the past ten years we have been an advocate around the issues, and for those experiencing, homelessness and poverty. We have been part of the evolving conversation with the Yarra Ranges Council that has seen the Council move from almost no policies, to recently adopting a set of Guidelines for moving forward with the issues of Homelessness and Housing.
Eat week we host a regular outreach to the homeless - we call it Street Angels. Our volunteers serve (pre-Covid) around 20-30 people each week in Melba Park, Lilydale. In addition, we run a food pantry and can supply material aid such as clothing and blankets.
Each Christmas we gather volunteers together to pack hampers with donated food - distributing around 150 each year. Our Community Christmas Lunch is hosted by a team of volunteers and serves over 120 people a hearty Christmas Lunch - prepared with our partner, Tasty Az.
We offer eductional opportunities for schools, commuity groups, clubs and churches to learn more about homelessness, povertry and our work in the Yarra Ranges. In addition, we conduct research with our associated organisations about the issues that surround homelessness in the Yarra Ranges.
