Since 2008 Thirsty Cow has provided relief to Australian farmers, graziers and their families and rural & regional communities suffering from the effects of natural disasters such as severe drought, flood and bushfire and their resulting hardships.
Thirsty Cow has provided moral or in kind support by gathering, transporting and delivering fodder, fencing, vehicle maintenance and animal care to farmers in need with the help of local farmers, agribusinesses and local communities.
We are now committed to targeted education and training programs to support the Vision and Mission of Thirsty Cow to rural and provincial Australians with emphasis on supporting our regional and Indigenous Youth. These programs, in Animal Husbandry, Farm Animal Behaviour (Beef, Sheep & Dairy), Equine Studies and other needs including farm machinery and cropping, are designed to rebuild young Australians confidence and increase job opportunities providing a more positive outlook on life and in turn their families and community's well being.
Students will become certified Thirsty Cow Volunteers joining the Thirsty Cow register of qualified Volunteers on call to assist our farmers, should a natural disaster strike a farming community and urgent support is needed.
