For over 30 years, Wildlife Victoria has provided the community with a Wildlife Emergency Response Service to help sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife across the state of Victoria.
Wildlife Victoria relies on an extensive network of volunteer rescuers, transporters, veterinarians and the licensed wildlife carers and shelters who accept animals into their care for rehabilitation and release. We also maintain a comprehensive network of emergency services, government agencies and commercial operators and are backed by a sophisticated database that enables us to respond swiftly and effectively to all manner of wildlife rescue situations, from orphaned ducklings to injured adult kangaroos.
Wildlife Victoria's Emergency Response Service is on call to help 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Last year we received over 88,000 calls for help and directly assisted more than 50,000 individual animals.
In addition to the rescue service, we also help wildlife through our education programs by providing people in the community with the knowledge and skills for peaceful and positive co-existence with wildlife, and by facilitating positive community attitudes towards wildlife. We advocate for wildlife whenever their welfare is under threat or compromised.
Wildlife Victoria currently receives no ongoing government funding and operates on the generosity of donors who appreciate and care about our wildlife.
