Wallaby raises $40,000 Fiji ($25k AUD) to shave his fro!

Star fundraising for cancer

As of yesterday afternoon, Fijian Wallaby Henry Speight has raked in over $A25,150 ($F40.000) towards his WOWS Kids Fiji donation — more than twice his initial target of $A10,000.

Speight began the donations page at mycause in October this year with the aim of raising $A10,000 to be donated towards WOWS Kids Fiji sometime this month.

Now, over one month later, the rugby world's most famous afro-grower has managed to surpass his goal with a total of $A25,150 and counting.

And at the end of the fundraiser when he comes to Fiji to hand over the collected funds, he will once again shave his iconic afro.

"I'm raising much needed funds and awareness for the Walk On Walk Strong foundation back in Fiji. Walk On Walk Strong supports children with cancer and their families through what will undoubtedly be one of the toughest periods of their life," Speight explained on his donations page.

"Like thousands of other people, cancer has had a profound impact on my life and the lives of all my family members. We lost our mum back in 1996 so as you can imagine it's an issue close to my heart and one I feel compelled to get behind."
