Ridhima was inspired to start her mycause campaign after losing her best friend to domestic violence. The horrific act left Ridhima heartbroken, but determined to do her own part in causing change.
In the end Ridhima not only met but exceeded her crowdfunding goal - this is because Ridhima did certain things to ensure her campaign was successful.
Regularly promote your campaign online
With a target of $5000, Ridhima began to promote her cause on her social media accounts, while also asking friends and family to share the posts.
At the end of her campaign Ridhima had approximately 736 shares online, gathering attention, momentum and ultimately donations to her charity campaign.
Include photographs or video
Ridhima included two photographs on her fundraising campaign, showing the front and back length of her very long locks.
The photographs are bright, big and clearly show Ridhima’s long hair from top to bottom. These photographs were also utilised to promote Ridhima’s campaign on various social media accounts, drawing attention to the posts and therefore, to Ridhima’s campaign.
Inform potential donors why you are raising funds
Ridhima explained why she was raising funds, telling her friend’s story while also letting people know why she selected these two particular charities. Ridhima chose to split her donations 50/50 between Domestic Violence Victoria and National Stem Cell Foundation of Australia.
“With the funds I raise, DV Vic will work to enhance services available to those experiencing domestic violence and raise community awareness.”
“The money raised will go towards much needed stem cell research and technology for as yet untreatable diseases.”
Ridhima’s friends, family and community at large supported her efforts to raise these funds, gathering over $10,000 in donations for the two charities - and to see Ridhima shave off her long locks!
