Perth man launches desperate campaign to raise money to fund brain surgery for his wife

Fundraising for brain surgery

A GOSNELLS man has mounted a desperate campaign to raise money to fund brain surgery for his wife in an attempt to restore her quality of life.

Daniel Fairfield deferred his university studies and is now caring for his wife Sarah full-time as well as their youngest son Ethan, 2, who has a neurological condition and requires full-time care

Mrs Fairfield’s condition has worsened, twice landing her in hospital and the mother-of-three’s symptoms – including severe nausea, persistent migraines and body spasms – are so bad she can no longer drive and rarely goes outside.

“I’m really struggling with what I’m doing to my family. I feel as though I’ve ruined their lives,” she said.

Renowned Sydney neurosurgeon Charlie Teo has examined Ms Fairfield and her scans and said he believes that a cyst in her brain was the cause, and he would remove it if she came to him as a private patient – but the family has no way of funding the $30,000 private surgery or associated costs.
