THE Coffs Coast is rallying to the cause of a single mum who remains in hospital after a single vehicle crash at Sawtell on April 12.
Shaley Wilmen is well known in the Sawtell and Toormina area, working at Viv's Fish and Chips and bringing up here two young girls.
As a long term member of Coffs Coast Health Club, when news of what happened began to circulate among her friends there, they immediately banded together to help her recover and ease the financial burden.
After the accident Shaley was flown to John Hunter Hospital where she underwent surgeries and was placed in an induced coma.
Carla Marchant was one of the people that put out the call to help support Shaley.
The efforts of Carla and other quickly raised the initial target of $3000, but the work hasn't stopped there.
Businesses have joined the fundraising with donations that are currently being raffled.
"People can buy tickets individually or can take a book and sell them among family, friends and work colleague," Carla said.
"The raffle will be drawn on Saturday the 17th of May at Coffs Coast Health Club where we will be having various exercise events called 'Sweat for Shaley'."
"We are also organising a further fundraising event and if any businesses would like to donate vouchers or prizes for this event they will be gratefully received."
