Michael Forbes, then 35, was training for the Victorian State Cycling Championships when he was hit by a passing truck and then launched into a 4WD. The horrific event left Michael a quadriplegic, changing his life forever.
The triathlete worked through many years of rehabilitation and was eventually able to get Fizz, an assistance dog through Assistance Dogs Australia.
“Fizz allows me to be free. To be independent. To have reassurance that help is there if I need it but also time to myself,” says Michael.
After being on The Project and getting support from family, friends and strangers alike, Michael has raised over $16,000 to date.
