MEDIA: Locals raise funds for very sick little girl

Local community fundraises for sick child

Local Echuca businesses and community groups raised more than $5000 in a special event to help Kadyn Carbis-Treacy and her family.

Kadyn has endured several open heart surgeries in her very young life.

She was unable to start school this year, instead being placed on a heart/lung machine and ventilator.

Kadyn remains at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne with her mother, Teagan, by her side.

To help the single mother through such emotional and financial difficulties, Big W Echuca, local businesses, and community groups fundraised in March, attracting hundreds of people.

Big W store manager Stacee Thompson told Shepparton News: ““It was heartwarming to see the community come to support Kadyn and her family.”

Ms Thompson thanked the many businesses, groups, and team members that helped out on the day.

“Especially my team members here at Big W, some of whom volunteered and helped out all day, even though they weren't on shift.”

Kadyn’s grandmother, Tina, drove from the Children’s Hospital to personally thank everyone for their efforts.

The broader community have also been encouraged to contribute to the family’s mycause fundraising page to help further with the ongoing medical and living costs.
