Communities supporting locals and their causes in May

The Bellingen community was shocked and heartbroken to hear of Trevor Tree’s passing in early May. The devoted father and husband was an incredibly generous man, who was known to go out of his way to assist others. Trevor was out with one of his sons when he suffered a traumatic brain injury and was transported to hospital, where he passed away days later. Close family friend Ben launched a mycause campaign, raising over $46,000 to support the Tree family during this incredibly difficult time.

Bruklan was an up-and-coming footballer in Queensland when he was involved in a horrific car accident while on the way to training. The accident left Bruklan in a critical condition, with his car torn in half as Bruklan was thrown metres from his vehicle. Bruklan suffered from two collapsed lungs, multiple lacerations and a severe head injury. Unfortunately his right arm also had to be amputated from just above his elbow. Bruklan’s aunt Tracey created a mycause campaign to assist with Bruklan’s long road to recovery, raising funds for his medical treatment and rehabilitation.

31-year-old Jayde was recently diagnosed with stage four cervical cancer, leaving Jayde with no choice but to give up her job to begin treatment. Jayde is currently undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy in an attempt to halt the cancer and help Jayde heal. Close friends of Jayde are also determined to raise funds for her recovery, with a football game and a half marathon planned to raise additional fund for their close friend. Family and friends have not only met but exceeded Jayde’s goal of $5000, with over $7800 raised for Jayde to date. Some of these results will consequently be donated to the Austalian Cervical Cancer Foundation.
