My name is Shona. I am a bilateral amputee after a car accident in May 2004. As my left leg is so short I have been unable to successfully walk with socket prosthesis as they are not practical for me to use in my everyday life. They are painful, awkward and I am not safe walking with them outside my home or performing everyday tasks as simple as being able to carry a cup of tea from one room to the next. I have the opportunity to have a surgical procedure performed that will allow me to walk full-time again in a safe, pain free manner that will give me a much better quality of life not only as a person but also as the mother of a 2 year old. This procedure has a large out of pocket expense that Medicare and Private Health will not cover and this is what I am hoping to raise the money towards. Please read my story: http://1000voices.edu.au/author/ShonaMuckert Please read about the procedure: http://www.osseointegrationaustralia.com.au/ Any help at all would be amazing, so helpful and I would be eternally grateful. Thank you!
You're amazing Shona; the very best of luck with it all - pleased to here it's going so well.
