Hi, I’m Paul! I spent 26yrs as a first responder until post traumatic stress ended my career. I’ve been retired now for 5yrs and live daily with the effects of my condition.
I am one of the lucky ones though. It’s estimated that 1 Australian first responder takes their life, due to post traumatic stress, every 6 weeks, with 1 in 7 first responders suffering from probable PTS and they are twice as likely to suffer from PTS as the general population.
TJF - The Journey Forward is a charitable organisation set up by two former first responders to help fellow emergency services personnel navigate life with post traumatic stress.
For 2 months, I will paddle about 2356km along length of the Murray River from Bringenbrong (NSW) to Goolwa (SA), where the river meets the ocean, to raise funds for TJF and raise awareness for PTS.
Please help me to help other emergency service members by donating to support TJF - The Journey Forward.
