On Saturday March 30th at 7:33pm, I received a call that would change my life forever. A compatible match for a heart had become available and it very possible I was going to receive it but this could also be a false start. At this point it was too early to say what the outcome would be but I was going to be air lifted to The Alfred Hospital as soon as possible, Jayd and Mason were booked on the earliest flight Sunday morning. This meant that we would have to pack and prepare for 3+ months in Melbourne in less than 12 hours, this was very stressful because it could all be for nothing hence why we kept it under wraps for as long as we did. I flew out of Launceston with the Tassie air ambulance at 11:00pm on Saturday and Jayd the next morning along with Mason. At 8:39 Sunday the 31st of March I was prepared for the heart transplant surgery and at 9:35 the surgery began. The surgery went for 6 hours with little to no complications. Given that this was technically my 3rd open heart surgery within 8 months it would mean longer recovery higher pain levels and managing the pain more difficult as being woken up much quicker with less time to heal my ribs The next 3 months we will be located in Melbourne for extensive rehab then home to tassie all going well I really hate to ask but with a lease still to pay in Tassie plus the expensively large cost of living in Victoria things will be quite tight I not asking for donations but any little bit will be so helpful and will go strictly to my recovery If you feel you can help please do but if not I totally understand Much love jayd ,mason and Aaron ????
Also sign up today dontate life Take just 2 minutes I hope I can get to chance to thank the donor family one day but understand fully if they don’t ????
Wish you the best in receiving appropriate medical care Aaron.
