Ease the Dread

A few years ago I had an encounter with a young woman who was trying to leave an abusive relationship. One morning she attended my office with a completely shaved head, informing me that she had cut her hair off the night before in order to ensure that her partner could no longer keep hold of her by it, so she could escape.

I will never forget it.

Because of this I have chosen to raise funds for SAHSSI, a crisis and supported accommodation service that supports my community's most vulnerable women - those fleeing domestic/family violence, at risk of homelessness or leaving prison.

I am hoping that sacrificing my dreads might help SAHSSI ease their dread in a small but important way.

About my dreads;

Combined length: 25 metres 25 centimetres

That is 2525 centimetres.

I think $10/cm is a reasonable amount and this would greatly help SAHSSI do the work they do to support local women.
